The truck is picking up paper and got a Lio strip! He’s trapped! WE MUST RESCUE HIM!!! (who is it that hates ‘too many” exclamation points? I suppose I’ll find out)
pouncingtiger: I’ve technically never seen “Soylent Green” (it’s on my list), but it’s so pervasive in our society I know what it’s about and get the joke….
Last night on “Jeopardy” there was a category full of happier endings to famous movies, and one of them was this:
Charleton Heston as Detective Thorn: “It’s lettuce! The secret ingredient is lettuce!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Those of you who haven’t seen Soylent Green yet, find it and watch it. You’ll be glad you did.
The book was a lot better, and the soylent raw material was only a minor plot point. Look up ‘Make Room! Make Room!, by Harry Harrison, of ‘Stainless Steel Rat’ fame. You have to turn the WayBack knob in your head to the 1960s for it to make sense, though.
Entropy-wise not all that efficient. None-the-less a terrifyingly “Modest Proposal” come to mind-boggling life.
Would Mr. Swift have regretted his satirical pen?
Too bad Lio left his scissors in the last panel the other day.
IIRC, Soylent Red is made of soy and lentils, hence the name.
