If 2 people are available, one secures the cat by wrapping all legs/paws in a nice thick large bath towel, second individual gets the medicine into the patient while avoiding being bitten. When all goes well, no blood is shed, no one is wounded, and the cat forgives you maybe after treats or his/hers next meal.
