I used to give to the people standing on corners. Then I spoke to a local fast food restaurant manager one day. He had offered a street person a job, and they turned it down. Seems they were doing fine on handouts, had all they needed for booze and drugs, and didn’t have to get dressed up and work a 9-5 job. Now, I give my money to the groups that run the homeless shelters. At least I know they will put it to good use.
