A good pothole tour could be a big draw in our town. What to sell in the gift shop after the tour though? Pothole globes with brown slush floating around when you shake them? Key chains with a little flattened tire?

I was riding my bike around my neighborhood in Houston around 1983, and there was a hole at the side of the street that opened into a space a small refrigerator would have fit into. Just the thing you want to see when swerving into the street is an invitation to the Grim Reaper.

‘Widow maker’ needs no explanation. Just swerve. Hard.

Yup. I had to replace a rim thanks to the morons at VDOT leaving a doozy while moving a Beltway on-ramp. I could see others by the side of the road and in the repair shop similarly damaged.

We’ve got all those and then some where I live. Particularly insidious is the “Ever-Expanding Fault Line” type. Every day is a bigger adventure….
