Back before the internet, late 1980’s, I’d just hop in my car and drive around until 1 in the morning on new years eve because I had no plans and no friends. Internet style partying would have been an improvement.
We have long since given up N-Y-E parties. I usually get awoken (“Awakened” isn’t as fun. It doesn’t bring out the Grammarians.) by the midnight fireworks celebrations around the neighborhood.
