Kentucky is a great example of the problem. The people loved Kynect but were constantly told how bad ACA is so they elected Bevin as governor. Bevin suspended enrollment in Kynect since SURPRISE it is ACA.
When progressive ideas and social programs are presented to people without specifying party, the majority approve. Repubs have been successful in demonizing Dems by lying about abortion (they even claim Dems would allow infanticide) and Repubs say the Dems are coming to take YOUR money and guns when most plans are to raise the top rates and implement reasonable gun control.
