Cow and Boy Classics by Mark Leiknes for November 16, 2020
Transcript:
Hey, "Cow & Boy" fans! Join Billy and Cow as they reenact the first Thanksgiving. "How pilgrim." "OK, I'll tell you 'how', my Native American counterpart." "It'll all begin innocently enough. We'll have our little dinner together. We'll bring our favorite dishes potluck style, and we'll call it Thanksgiving. Then you'll show us the secrets to living on your land, like planting corn." "And over the next three hundred years, more of us will show up to either avoid religious persecution or to exploit your continent for commerce and resources." "The more of us that arrive, the more your people will be displaced to lands that are basically unlivable." "Your beautiful and strong society will be transformed into a shell of what it once was. All at the hands of people you welcomed with open arms." "And that's 'how' it'll happen. But a better question might be 'why'." "No, I was using 'how' as a greeting, not a question." "Oh, my bad. High-five, buddy." "I'm so leaving you hanging."

sigh – and yet we seem so surprised – at all the BS out there now

Not a bad summation. There’s also something about treaty-breaking (the insult “Indian-giver” has it exactly backwards).

Correction: The Pilgrims weren’t fleeing religious persecution. They were persecuting their neighbors in England and got chased out.
