Furienna, Hi! And to answer your question..because sometimes people don’t clean up after their dogs and the poop is left where people and children are playing and it would be far better to remove it than to leave it.
Sometimes we do things for the benefit of others because it is simply the right thing to do. If others don’t choose to clean up after their dogs, then I will do it for them to the extent I am able to and as circumstances permit.
For the same reason I pick up paper cups and other debris that people carelessly toss away in picnic areas and other places that are so much more enjoyable when they are clean.
What surprises me is that more people don’t take this responsibility upon themselves to insure that our parks, recreation areas and even our neighborhoods are clean and pleasant places.
As far as the dog poop being “Ewwwww”, well I guess you weren’t brought up in the country with horses, cattle, pigs, chickens, turkeys and ducks as well as dogs and cats.
I have cleaned up more poop of various kinds of animals than most people I have met. And, compared to some kinds of poop I have cleaned up, dog poop isn’t the worst.
Besides…..if you have plastic baggies and use them correctly, you don’t get any on yourself. So I have no problem with it.
And I feel good about myself in knowing I am a force for a clean environment for all.
But thanks for your interesting reaction to my self inflicted clean up chores.
StelBel, Well, I thought I felt a kindred spirit in you. It’s good to know that I have such stellar company in my efforts to be a responsible guardian of our environment and, to the extent of my limited abilities, to the planet we call home.

Not in those days. Pooper-scooper laws were still well in the future, and “curb your dog” meant exactly what Red and Rover are doing.

I can’t begin to imagine the amount of dog poop I have picked up over these many years.
And, know what, a lot of times it wasn’t even from my dog!
Gotta keep the environment clean you know. Well, as much as possible.
