Who is Marianne? A skate motor mechanic, I hope. I predict that your trip will be short and possibly painful. But hopefully instructive.
Marianne said that I should get a sidecar for her if I’m going to be using these from now on.
Seeing as Marianne is riding the unicycle, she is about a block behind. Her 4 inch heels keep getting caught in the spokes..
Sounds to me like Liverlips and Dennis see this as Philbin about to leave the house using his XTI Power Wunderskate™ ….
and Rose and I see it (properly, IMHO) as him having just arrived at his destination….

Mavis Spinkley, of course, is casting her eye down the block that Philbin has just traversed, hoping for a glimpse of Marianne….
but as Rose notes, she’s still a block behind.
Later Mavis will tell Walter that if Philbin talks him into acquiring a Wunderskate™ of his own, and leaving her behind, she will NOT be pleased
Walter merely smiles, kisses her quickly on the nose, and says nothing..

They’re gathering their motor club, “Satan’s Skaters,” for a foray into the field where they will annoy some Sunday walkers. Always something fun to do for the Ballard Baddies.
