I am not sure which is worse, a veggie sandwich that tastes like beef or turkey re-designed to taste like beef. I donât find either appealing, esp. because I love turkey that tastes like turkey.
Iâm not a vegetarian nor vegan but once in a while I make patties with TVP (textured vegetable protein), ground wheat gluten, and finely minced potatoes. Soy sauce, a little sea salt, ground black pepper, chopped onion, and garlic are the seasonings. The patties are not meant to imitate beef or chicken but they are very flavorful specially when grilled over charcoal. Cheap stuff and nutritious too.
Have you ever noticedâŚ(i miss Andy RooneyâŚand do you know how hard it is to type vocal impressions..so you gotta add your own)..have you ever noticed⌠how âoffended peopleâ always hang around, after they have been offended, âŚonly to be offended again by your not really caring about them having be offended in the first place?âŚ..Iâve noticed that a lot latelyâŚ
Before BK had this âImpossible Burgerâ fake meat, other places have, and because it wasnât Burger King people said âit tastes just like beefâ and âyou ought to try itâ. These people I know were not vegan or vegetarian, they were just trying to eat a healthier diet (meaning not so MUCH red meat).
My wife is a vegetarian and the only meat I eat is seafoodâŚweâve tried most veggie burgersâŚand the âwhopperâ charge is 100% true: The veggie burger at Burger King is terrible. The best substitute Iâve seen are Morning Star products, particularly their Grillers Prime line.

A whopper has always meant a big lie to me. In this case it fits.

If the B-K âvege-burgerâ smells & tastes âexactly like beefâ (how would YOU know ?), wouldnât YOU find it âoffensiveâ, too ?

The imitation beef does taste like beef. But, it contains a high amount of salt and processed soy protein.
