Animal Man had a great series about a guy who finds a mysterious meteorite and it gives him a super power: the death touch. Anything he touches dies. Of course it ruins his life. His wife leaves him and takes the kids. He can’t get regular work, and no superhero team is looking for a guy who kills people. What else can he do but become a villain?
