And on top of all that, if anything it should prefer “elongated German” (dachshunds are a German breed) rather than “elongated American” … unless as several of you have stated, the dog actually identifies as American rather than German. :-)
More likely though, SHE’s the one who prefers “elongated American”, not the pooch.

Dachshunds were looked upon as the enemy in USA during WW1.
