A sign sits in a carved pumpkin that reads, "Home wanted."<BR><BR> Franklin holds a football. Peppermint Patty holds a pumpkin. Franklin says, "No, thank you . . . I wouldn't know what to do with it . . ." Peppermint Patty says, "Rats!"<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty approaches Roy with the pumpkin. Roy says, "No, I don't want it . . Halloween is over . . Besides, I have one of my own to get rid of . . ."<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty talks into the phone and says, "Hello, Chuck? Say, you wouldn't be interested in a halloween pumpkin, would you? He's a neat one . . ."<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty asks, "Well, what do you do with a pumpkin when halloween is over?"<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty says, "Wait a minute . . I have an idea . . Hang on . ."<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty looks in a cupboard.<BR><BR> Charlie brown talks into the phone and says, "Hello? Yes, I'm still here . . You're what?"<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty holds the pumpkin in a frying pan. She says, "I said, I'm going to try to make a pie . . ."<BR><BR>

I don’t think there has ever been a clear instance before this strip and the previous one of regular strips having direct continuity with the Sunday strips. Almost always the Sunday strips have no relation to the continuity of the regular strips, but there have been occasional examples of continuity among Sunday strips. Schulz had to submit these Sunday strips to United Feature Syndicate even more in advance of the publication date than he had to for the regular strips.
