Lucy and Charlie Brown stand at the wall. Lucy says, "I kept my promise, didn't I? I didn't pull the ball away." Charlie Brown frowns.<BR><BR> Charlie Brown replies, "No, you're right . . . You didn't."<BR><BR> Charlie Brown continues, "But I missed the ball, and kicked your hand . . . I don't know what to say . . Is there anything I can do?"<BR><BR> Lucy lifts her arm and reveals a cast. She says, "Next time you go to the hospital, stay there!"<BR><BR>

The PROBLEM is, they were kicking in summer, not fall. There are probably atmospheric explanations for this most unfortunate (hee, hee) event (snicker).

Lucy has moved the goalposts here. Her promise was to NEVER pull the football away. Now she acts as if this one time is enough. She’ll pull it away next year (https://www.gocomics.com/peanuts/1980/11/16) and for many years after that.
