Peppermint Patty talks into the phone and asks, "You're sure you're not interested in women's sports, Marcie?"<BR><BR> Marcie talks into the phone and says, "Nope! As a matter of fact, I'm going to start taking organ lessons from Mrs. Hagemeyer."<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty frowns and says, "You're a big disappointment to me, Marcie . . ."<BR><BR> Marcie smiles and says, "I'll sell you tickets to my first recital, sir."<BR><BR>

Marcie: “What part of the old saying,”To each his own" don’t you understand, sir? As I told you, I really do not have an interest in sports; I am more MUSICALLY inclined, than I am ATHLETICALLY inclined!" Yes, how ironic, that Marcie and Peppermint Patty were friends, in the least, the way they were EXACT OPPOSITES, in virtually EVERY way.

“Look, sir, I’ll be happy to get you tickets to my first organ recital, if it’ll make up for anything!” Yes, at least Marcie was kind enough to invite Patty to come to her(Marcie’s)first concert, where she would show off her own true talent.

And NO MATTER how many times Peppermint Patty had to tell Marcie to stop calling her “sir”, Marcie STILL would not do it—makes you wonder, since for one thing, OF COURSE, Peppermint Patty was not even a BOY!(even if she WAS a bit of a tomboy.)

The expression on Patty’s face in Panel 3 is HILARIOUS—that DEEP frown, and EVER-DISAPPONTED eyes—well, apparently, the old saying “To each his own,”did NOT mean anything to her—sports JUST wasn’t Marcie’s gift!

It seems that Mrs. Hagemeyer, better known as Miss Othmar, became a music teacher after she got fired from her job as a classroom teacher for participating in a teachers’ strike in a series of strips from 1969 (Linus got involved).
