Yup, been there and done that. It was 100% more stressful than being a staff engineer at a major corporation (and paid nothing).

During my Master’s program in IE I discussed as a project putting together an optimized scheduling tool for exactly this problem. My professor and I determined it was too hard, and I built an AI for learning how to optimize a medical procedure instead.
