While it’s true that the conditions were ripe for the psychopathic malignant narcissist cult leader to win the electoral college, getting rid of him will restore some sanity to the federal government. Observers have been saying the psychopath is a symptom and not a cause. That’s true. But his mental illness makes him more of a catalyst that jump started a virulent social virus. Getting rid of the catalyst will not cure the social virus. But it will help.
This is essentially why “listening” to the psychopath is not necessary. He and his cultists spread so many lies that there’s no point in listening to them. This is NOT a case where " both sides do it."
The psychopath, like all psychopaths, is devoid of true empathy. He fakes empathy until it no longer serves his malignant narcissism. So, even though there’s usually a kernel of truth he picks up on to resonate with his synchophantic followers, he doesn’t really care about anything except service to his mentally ill compulsions.
The kernel of truth remains, of course, and may actually require a thoughtful response from the federal government. Not a mentally ill, “whip up the crowd” response. But a real attempt to solve the problem illuminated by the kernel of truth.
So this toon showing the clash is accurate. But it’s the cult leader that stimulates his side, working hand-in-hand with the regressive political opportunists that use him to pervert the political process in “winner take all” behaviors. The democrats are simply trying to restore some sense of rational rule of law.
No sane politician can hold a candle to the White House Weasel’s vulgarity. Politics will never be the same, but probably viewed in a much worse light.

Well, I don’t know why I came here tonight
I got the feeling that something ain’t right
I’m so scared in case I fall off my chair
And I’m wondering how I’ll get down the stairs
Clowns to the left of me
Jokers to the right
Here I am
Stuck in the middle with you
Yes, I’m stuck in the middle with you
And I’m wondering what it is I should do
It’s so hard to keep this smile from my face
Losing control, yeah, I’m all over the place

Head down the street and hear worse language in the White House.
Although I hear they are trying to keep Trump calm after that heart incident.

It is, but it isn’t. Just par for the course.

There used to be an air of civility in politics, I think. Or is that a dream memory from long ago?
