I’ve never played golf. Can someone explain to me exactly what par means? I used to think it meant the average number of strokes needed, but someone told me that’s not right.

I detect a re-write. This is from 1962 and Medicare was not yet in effect. And in Canada, the healthcare is called Medicare but it’s for everyone.
