All my materials gathered and pentagrams drawn and such, I set about to call up Old Nick. I did the pentagram and circle with double-sided tape topped with salt and chalk. I wasn’t taking any chance that he would get free. Vi said the name I should invoke was “bob”. That didn’t seem right. Her being more the expert, I went along with it. Some candles, some chanting, and suddenly there he was. It was like a fiddler crab coming out from under a flat rock. He just came scuttling out from under a shadow on the floor in the center of the pentagram, coming to full size and a more or less human shape, he appeared to have a small vestigial tail, in moments. “Hey, Stubby,” he said. Stubby was a nickname I had for a bit as a kid when I accidentally removed most of one pinkie with a hatchet while camping, much too far from any medical care. “You want to get in my head and mess with me. Don’t try it, Bob”, I replied. He chuckled. “Not my actual name, you know. It’s not the name, anyway. It’s the concept, the idea, the intent, that does it. Violet is looking out for you, isn’t she? I like her.”

I would pitch a jingle here about Brass and Bobtail, bell ringing full speed ahead engineer.

Butt buring my face down and ears to the rear seems better.

Hope the fatguy can dodge any satellites Tuesday night. Eat your Wheaties space and ⌚ watch the football fight.

The vestigial tail here makes me think of “Geek Love,” by Katherine Dunn. A memorable read that will stretch you out.

So, I am supposed to enjoy some crab-ass getting its caudal appendage clipped off by crab’s claw? Screw it!

My interpretation is, of course, terribly literal, but that’s because, sadly, I am lacking imagination and generally lame. In fact, that’s why I’m here….

Do you serve crabs? We serve anybody.

Maybe you need some Quell soap for the tail.

I’m not allowed to tell you what that spring reminds me of.
