Mom tried to make my sister and I take afternoon naps together. Once we “found” her lipstick and spent our time under the covers painting each other red. Quite a shock for mom when she threw the cover back.
At ages 5 and 6 I didn’t wear my socks, or shoes, in school. We did not have preschool. The first grade teacher sometimes had to wake me up to go home.
at least Alice knows how to entertain herself (unfortunately at the wrong time)….never thought of doing that with my socks. will have to try it and see how much fun it is.
My little sister would drop the side of her cot and get up to play. Dad tied the side up with a bit of thin rope. She watched him do it, just undid the knot and climbed out again. My parents gave up on naps after that.

“aw, jeez” indeed, Alice… why’d you have to nap beside Kevin (that darn bucket head)?

I still remember nap time 65 years ago. I could never fall asleep and played with my socks, too! So boring to lay still.

I never knew a kid who actually napped during nap time. I know I never did. The mats were always cold and full of sand.

Sometimes, when I still wear socks, I still play with my socks.

The whole point of naptime is to give the teacher a break!

If Alice flapped hard enough, she could hover over the Bucket. That would make even more nightmares ;~|

Feisty little socks are no match for an over-tired Alice. Ms. Bliss’s intervention was necessary!

Another flashback! When I was still in my crib and they wanted me to nap, I just peeled the wallpaper off the wall behind.

naptime was for the teacher… she’s the one that needed the break
