Also, he’s a WONDERFUL ROLE MODEL for his kiddos!! Parents can never be “super-human”, we’re too dang flippin’ HUMAN! And…. our kids are human too. Those parents who try so hard to be perfect, we set ourselves up to fail and our kiddos up for unrealistic expectations of themselves and no tools for dealing with reality.
It was the hardest thing in the world, being “hit in the head” with my own “human-ness”. But learning to model “this is a human doing their best, still failing, but always owning self and growing to better person-hood” has been SO WONDERFUL!
And, actually, liberating. Really and truly LIBERATING! It is one of the BEST gifts being a parent has given ME. Well, outside of my children themselves. ;-)
Want to make the world a better place? Listen hard for people asking for help. It’s not always obvious. And sometimes they just need to be reminded of their own worth in the simplest way. A “thank you” or even a “hello” can mean a lot.
