My father had the brilliant idea to get me a “build your own radio” scientific kit for a Christmas present. To “broaden my horizons.” Was not asked for, was not wanted. He grumbled and took it back and got me something I actually wanted and would use. Dodged that bullet!

Expensive, unused presents sell well on eBay. I often find them with bits of Xmas wrap still taped in places.

I gave my husband a drone for Christmas as he’s a techno-geek and was interested in them. It’s still sitting there. sigh.
