Reminds me of a plot from the 60s TV show “Julia.” The teacher was concerned because the little boy only painted with black paint; after the usual sitcom business it turned out that, because he was small, the other kids got to the paint cabinet first and grabbed all the other paints. By the time he got his turn, black was all that was left.

I started reading Peanuts in 1956, but this is the first strip that I remember exactly. I was 10 at the time.
