My folks moved to a new state/town when I was in fifth grade. The local bully immediately zeroed in as I was about the smallest kid in the class as well. What he didn’t know was that I’d been learning martial arts since age 6. I was the last kid he ever picked on, and in fact he became a defender. Lessons sometimes “take”.
