In the original Web posting, there was a week’s break between the last strip and this one. The gap was filled by a New Bobbins storyline, “Fishman’s Return”, in which Shelley Winters runs across Desmond Fishman (whom Shauna, in her first appearance, described as, “the biggest frog in England or the world”) on the Facebooks, and she and Ryan go visit him. They find him living, with a smartphone and an antique butler, Fotheringay, in an otherwise empty manor house.
On interrogation, it turned out that after the end of Scary-Go-Round, when Ryan and Amy started doing kisses and hiding in her room all the time, Des had run away from home, and while he was squatting down by the railroad tracks, Lottie and Shauna had found him. (At least I think it’s Shauna. The hair’s her shade, but the style looks more like early Mildred. The bit’s told in flashback from Desmond’s perspective, so it’s possible that it was all three of them, but he never paid enough attention to figure out that there were two different blondes.)
The girls knew Des from before (Shauna and Lottie both first appeared in the SGR storyline “The Estate”, in which Shauna’s older brother Darren (yes, Shauna has an older brother, whom we have not seen) found Des the previous time he ran away from home), and they took him under their wing, and investigated the Case of Why Is Desmond Fishman, and determined that he was the long-lost son of the 18th Lord Sunderland and a mermaid, who got all the wrong bits from his mother’s side, and they reunited Des with his father — who has since passed away, leaving Des to inherit his title and estate. All of his possessions except his smartphone and his butler got sold to pay the bills, though, leaving him in an empty manor with only Fotheringay and the Facebooks for company.
The Bobbins strips after this turned into full months-long storylines that ran between Bad Machinery cases, and Des took over the one-offs and interstitial strips role.
Thank you so much, Lottie, for putting the mental picture of butt-naked Satan riding a moped in my head. That was DEFINITELY something one needs to start their morning with. -sarcasm- :P

Lottie looks really great on that Vespa. Kinda weird she never wanted to have a bike.
