He says, "Mr. Chairman, teachers and fellow students..this will be my last speech before our election.."<BR><BR> Lucy leans back in her chair with her hands clasped behind her head: "We've got it cold, Charlie Brown...if he doesn't say anything stupid, we can't lose!" Charlie Brown says, "Just think...I'll be Vice-President."<BR><BR> Linus says, "I want to talk to you this morning about the 'Great Pumpkin'..."<BR><BR> "AAAUGHH!!" Lucy and Charlie Brown throw back their heads and wail.<BR><BR>

This reminds me of this one time, years ago, when I was a kid, when our family came SO CLOSE, to winning a McDonald’s lottery—the idea was to find ALL the parts, to the phrase “WINNING COMBINATION,” so as to win LOTS OF MONEY-it was like a grand. Anyway, the AT in “combination,”was the only part we couldn’t find. Just in terms of coming SO CLOSE to accomplishing something BIG, even if it is “too good to be true,” is why this strip reminds me of the aforementioned time. And speaking of things like lotteries, they actually do that ON PURPOSE, I have heard-make it so a certain part of what you need is HARD TO FIND.
