Sally approaches Charlie Brown and says, "You've been telling everyone that I lied to my teacher, haven't you?"<BR><BR> Sally stands in front of Charlie Brown and continues, "Don't you know that psychologists say children don't always know that they're lying?! To an innocent child like me, if a lie works, it isn't a lie! What do you think of that?!"<BR><BR> Charlie Brown points at Sally and shouts, "George Washington!!"<BR><BR> Sally cries and shouts, "You're right! Whaa! I'll never lie again!" Charlie Brown says, "I hated to do it, but some problems call for drastic action . . ."<BR><BR>

the joke is that George Washington supposedly never told a lie, and admitted he was the one who cut down a cherry tree…and in those days kids were brought up to respect American history (just the parts the schools would let them know about) so having Washington as a role model always made kids who lied feel inferior for doing so.
