    Yep, kinda like Rodney Dangerfield, ya don’t get any respect. But, cheer up, there actually are a lot of us out here that do revel in hearing the first song sparrows singing out. BTW, that does NOT apply to the non-native house sparrow imported from Europe to the U.S. decades ago and who has now overtaken much habitat and threatens and even kills native species, such as bluebirds, wrens and tree swallows.

    Robins are year round residents of Wisconsin. The first sign of spring is the chipmunk for us , because it is a true hibernator, unlike bears.

    The first sparrow of spring usually poops on my windshield.
