To be fair, creativity is not necessarily an asset for an actor. They have to perform their roles as the director sees fit, not them. There is also a lot of involved in exactly what expressions they’re to have at each moment the camera is on them, what words to emphasize, handling changes in the script, etc. The ironic thing is that we don’t notice when actors put a lot of work into their roles, but do notice when they don’t.
