Sorry, Wallace, the gear ratio is all wrong. The size of an engine where you could get the sudden acceleration you’d need would likely rip the engine from the boat in response, which would defeat the purpose.
This strip is such a joy to read. The humor, the characters, the art, the coloring. It first on my list to read every day and always starts me off with a smile and laugh.
Sorry, Wallace, even if that little boat could go faster, it wouldn’t be possible to do that little trick…at least not without it catastrophically going wrong, as I’d doubt any boat could stick the landing.
Besides, most boats want to avoid precisely that happening, and it’s my understanding that they’re typically designed to try and prevent it.
