Let”s see. I’m not rich, so I don’t have any tax shelters, but with the deduction for mortgage interest and real estate taxes I paid last year, I took $25k off the top of my income for tax purposes. Yep, I sure wish I had some tax shelters to help me pay less taxes. And that credit for education expenses for my step-daughter’s college tuition, dang I sure wish there was some way us little people could reduce our taxes too. Doggone IRA, all it does is keep another $2500 out of my AGI. I hate not having any tax shelters.
misngNola - i hope you thanked Obama for all you reductions since the republicans want to take them away.
The rich tax shelters help billionaires pay no tax. you have simple deductions
total, not one of those deductions are under discussion by the current Congress for repeal or removal. And if you don’t understand that tax shelters are simply deductions as well, then I suppose nothing I say will make any difference anyway.

Actually, there -is- discussion in Washington of removing the mortgage interest deduction.

Ed, my bad, I forgot they had mentioned that, but with the housing market the way it is, there’s not a big chance of it having any traction.
