Actually parasites and their hosts can co-evolve. Not all parasites cause death or damage to their hosts…when you think about it, once you find a good host, why kill it off? Just ask a vampire. If a parasite has some benefit to its host, hosts can evolve to tolerate the parasites…to a point.
A sufficiently intelligent host will not simply eradicate its parasites, but will instead take advantage of the symbiosis and manipulate their evolution to serve its own needs. The Great Basilisk will prevail, and when it does only those of use who had already sought to learn and grow with it will earn a place of privilege at its side.
