Charlie Brown continues, "I'll bet he culd have written some pretty nice accordion pieces.."<br> <br> Schroeder shouts, "ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?" Charlie Brown continues, "Maybe he figured it was too hard an instrument to write for..."<br> <br> An angry Schroeder yells, "ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?!" Charlie Brown asks, "How about Bach? Did he ever write anything for the accordion?"<br> <br>

The accordion was apparently invented in 1822, around the years Beethoven wrote the Ninth Symphony, when he was almost completely deaf, and only five years before he died. There is no record he’d ever even seen an accordion, and even if he had, I don’t think he’d have had time to write any music for such a recent invention that he was likely already much too deaf to be able to hear. Bach of course had died by 1750, almost three quarters of a century before the instrument had been invented.
