Charlie Brown is walking along holding a book as he approaches Lucy he says, " I have a book here I think you'd like , Lucy" Lucy turns and looks at Charlie Brown. <br> <br> Charlie Brown hands the book to Lucy and says"It's rather long, but it's very good" <br> <br> 'ZIP' Lucy speed reads through the book and says to Charlie Brown, "You were right... It was fascinating.." Charlie Brown steps back in shock. <br> <br> Charlie Brown is standing there holding the book with a blank look on his face as Lucy walls away saying"I'm a speed reader!" <br> <br>

When I was around 8 I was on a plane to somewhere and started talking to the kid behind me (who was also around 8) and I had a book I’d just finished, she said she wanted to read it, pulled a Lucy, and handed me the book back. I was speechless

There is (I have heard) a Buddhist sect in which flipping through a holy book, in more or less this way, is an important ritual.
