Not many people HAVE heard of the diatryma-well, you can see why, if it died out,LONG, LONG, before Christ was even born—well, 60 MILLION OR BILLION YEARS, certainly is EONS GALORE AGO. I have read, though, that you can find its fossils out in the western states, like Wyoming, and also, that it may well have killed this one species of horse, that existed at the time. I mean, true, the dodo is also extinct, but the dodo died out in the late 17th century—1681, I have read, and that is NOTHING, compared to 60 BILLION YEARS. Sounds like the diatryma would have been QUITE SCARY LOOKING, from Charlie Brown’s description—well, certainly quite GROTEQUE, compared to what birds today look like.

The earth isn’t even five billion years old, please check your facts before acting an authority.

According to Wikipedia, this would have existed between around 33.9 and 56 million years ago. The name has also been changed to Gastornis. It’s also currently thought that this bird ate large plants that required a beak that would need a lot of pressure to break through the stems or stalks.

Probably a simple mistake substituting sixty billion for what should be sixty million.

In school I once made a diatryma-themed diorama, I called it my “diatrama”.
