I remember this storyline. Poor Snoopy!

The chateau fire was more epic than that.

The opening panel is kind of SCARY—well, of course—perhaps for an instant, Charlie Brown thought it was his own house, that was burning. And it STILL MAKES YOU WONDER, after all these years, how on earth it had ever started(Snoopy’s house burning,of course.)

Now that I think about it, I wonder if the chateau fire(in Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown)was inspired by this strip?

Geez, can you imagine if this story arc was adapted into “The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show” in the 80s?

What a sad story line.
That aside, I have to say that this was not one of Schulz’s better illustrated comics. The flames on Snoopy’s house had shadows on them.

Heh, I bet after that last panel, Charlie Brown ran around the neighborhood in his pajamas yelling “FIRE! HELP! FIRE!” And he ran up to the Van Pelts’ house and he cried out to Lucy and Linus, “SOMEBODY HELP! SNOOPY’S HOUSE IS ON FIRE! SOMEBODY SAVE HIS HOUSE! FIRE! FIRE!” But unlike the Chateau Du Mal Voisin, they were unable to save Snoopy’s doghouse in time…
