I don’t think Mona said that about the small world. I think that was Lucas, judging by the jaggedy tail on the balloon. .
But I don’t understand the last panel either way.
And if Margueritem doesn’t get it, can there be any hope at all for the rest of us?
The last panel is a non sequitur unless you imagine Mona saying something like “The guy Pierre’s Tina was hung up on looked like a salamander. Does your boss look like a salamander?”
If this were an old Bob Newhart routine, where we ONLY knew one side of a telephone call, it would be clearer. But here it’s inconsistent, because in the preceding panel we knew what was being said both by the person we see (Mona) and by the person we don’t (Lucas).
