Planes were forced to circle Washington Nation Airport because there was one air traffic controller on duty- and he was asleep
Man: Launch the missiles! Bob?!
It’s amusing that it was Reagan Airport, after the to do he had with the air traffic controllers union. Didn’t they always used to require 2 people, 24 hours, at major airports?
Apparently last year the only night controller on duty locked himself out of the control tower at Regan Intl.
He went tot he washroom and left the keycard inthe tower and couldn’t get back in.
It seems to be an annual event there now.
Whaddaya t’ink …
if we had an adequate number of air traffic controllers, teachers, etc., unemployment might go down?
Oh but then, we’d have to raise taxes on the wealthy and the corporations ….
Economic justice anyone?
^^ I work four or five days in a row every week, and I don’t fall asleep (except in staff meetngs.) He shouldn’t have been asleep, and there should have been at least two controllers in the tower, but Is it so hard to put a progressively louder tone on the comm gear if a controller doesn’t respond to a call-in?
BTW, it’s still National Airport to me, also. Put Raygun’s name on a Sleep-Number mattress factory or the Actors Guild Union Hall if you want, but don’t confuse the tourists at National.
why do you think Reagan only landed at Andrews? He didn’t care about those silly civilian airports, it WAS that simple. It happened at the perfect place (but not the only one, or first incident).
Most effective anti-union propaganda I’ve ever seen (is Mr Walker listening ?) ! If destroying unions and imposing understaffing on vital operations means that Obama and his successors will have difficulty getting their missiles launched, I’m going to have to reconsider my position on unions and unionising (and my father organised unions in the US South during the Great Depression before leaving to fight for Republican Spain, so it’s obvious were I generally stand on matters of this type)….

I refuse to call National Airport after the president who did more to destroy safe and efficient air travel in this country than anyone until 9/11.

He looks like Hitler.
How appropriate that this happened at the airport named after Reagan who fired the air traffic controllers and broke that union.

No taxes means no government means no services. That’s what you get when you vote GOP.
