Little dogs often don’t seem to realize they are little. They have a big presence and confidence and do not mind giving a piece of their mind to anyone, even big dogs.
Remarkably, often the big dog is intimidated and backs off. Unfortuantely….not always.
Careful you don’t bite off more than you can chew Yorky.
My little Westie, Buddy, has no concept of fear! He constantly takes on the next door Akita. Buddy always winds up flat on his back under the Akita! Fortunately, for Buddy, that’s all the Akita seems interested in doing to Buddy and Buddy trots away to live to try again another day!

Yorky! The terrifying little dog with a great ferocious bark.
I’m afraid of him already.

SHE is mortified when I grab the leash of HER dog (14lbs) with two hands and yell, “Back Killer!” Always gets a smile from the passerby.

It’s not just dogs either. I’ve seen ponies run off full sized horses who were giving them grief

Small dogs are like tiny fighter planes in combat…they may not be large or powerful, but their small size and maneuverability gives them an advantage.
