Thank you Andre. That clears it up. Language is funny. Learning vocabulary doesn’t equate to learning a language. Neither even does learning the intricacies of syntax. But learning the use of idiom on top of all that makes language learning a most difficult task.
woodworker318: Yes, I saw your post re the Phantom’s “Code.” This makes the situation very interesting. margueritem is a P. Fan and was very helpful re the Chatu storyline back when I started reading the strip in January. I am hoping she’ll come by and add her comments re the “Code.” Thanks again to both you and Teh, who have been very helpful on a continuing basis. P. is a great strip, but it helps to have a knowledge base to fully appreciate it.
Foxtrot - thanks to all who help with the language.
MW- an unrequited romance?
JP - the sudden shift in story lines is very disconcerting. The NYC arc was definitely now resolved. Some strips go back and forth between characters and stories, but I think this has been over 2 weeks and that’s too long to leave a story hanging.
A3G - now we know. What’s the next step?
Rex - I hope the interruption keeps Dex from making a big mistake.
Does anyone read Funky Winkerbean? I’m wondering who is Mallory and why is the teacher (or is she a teacher/) lying?

(Phantom) I don’t know, this seems to be drawn out.

(Phntm) We’re still in suspense…drawn out by the flashback.
(Apt. 3-G) Thanks Tommie - now we know who Dan Diller is. Is nurse Tommie about to take a big step up in her music career?
(Mark Trail) Get ready to run! (I hope Mark brought the key to the plane).
(Rex Morgan) Is Sweetie Pie just a waitress or a new character being introduced?
(FoxTrot) In English, it’s “Fly paper, my fanny.” What does “un cuerno” really say (in English)? The babelfish translator says cuerno=horn.

Google Translate made it, “Fly paper, a horn.” I figure it must be an idiom.

(Judge Parker) Double Yawn.
(Mark Trail) The guy’s carrying a high powered hunting rifle, Mark, so be careful.
(Phantom) I think it’s a very skillfully done flashback to show that Phantom is really worried that he might actually get killed.
(Rex Morgan) Forget the lawyer and just ask her about pie.
