(Phantom) I don’t know, this seems to be drawn out.

(Phntm) We’re still in suspense…drawn out by the flashback.

(Apt. 3-G) Thanks Tommie - now we know who Dan Diller is. Is nurse Tommie about to take a big step up in her music career?

(Mark Trail) Get ready to run! (I hope Mark brought the key to the plane).

(Rex Morgan) Is Sweetie Pie just a waitress or a new character being introduced?

(FoxTrot) In English, it’s “Fly paper, my fanny.” What does “un cuerno” really say (in English)? The babelfish translator says cuerno=horn.

Google Translate made it, “Fly paper, a horn.” I figure it must be an idiom.

    (Judge Parker) Double Yawn.

(Mark Trail) The guy’s carrying a high powered hunting rifle, Mark, so be careful.

(Phantom) I think it’s a very skillfully done flashback to show that Phantom is really worried that he might actually get killed.

(Rex Morgan) Forget the lawyer and just ask her about pie.

Thank you Andre. That clears it up. Language is funny. Learning vocabulary doesn’t equate to learning a language. Neither even does learning the intricacies of syntax. But learning the use of idiom on top of all that makes language learning a most difficult task.

woodworker318: Yes, I saw your post re the Phantom’s “Code.” This makes the situation very interesting. margueritem is a P. Fan and was very helpful re the Chatu storyline back when I started reading the strip in January. I am hoping she’ll come by and add her comments re the “Code.” Thanks again to both you and Teh, who have been very helpful on a continuing basis. P. is a great strip, but it helps to have a knowledge base to fully appreciate it.

Foxtrot - thanks to all who help with the language.

MW- an unrequited romance? JP - the sudden shift in story lines is very disconcerting. The NYC arc was definitely now resolved. Some strips go back and forth between characters and stories, but I think this has been over 2 weeks and that’s too long to leave a story hanging. A3G - now we know. What’s the next step? Rex - I hope the interruption keeps Dex from making a big mistake. Does anyone read Funky Winkerbean? I’m wondering who is Mallory and why is the teacher (or is she a teacher/) lying?
