Re the code: The Phantom’s code is that he’ll never kill anybody. Why he said there’d be “no violence”, I’m not sure.
He certainly has left the skull mark on any number of jaws.
I think he meant no killing but he said that even if Chatu got him, he would get Chatu. Maybe he thought Chatu would chicken out, after all, his plans were upset by the Phantom and all his cohorts are in prison. I still am waiting to find out what the second choice is.And you are right, he has had a lot of fights over the years. Last one was a knock down drag out battle with Chatu.

(FoxTrot). The atomic weight of Vanadium (V) is 50.9415 & the mass is 49.947161 or 50.943962, depending on the isotope (I think). Jason can’t recall this at the moment and babelfish translates his words in the last panel as: ”One pensaria that to people not costaria him as much a little compassion.” The Gocomics English version says: ”You’d think sympathy wouldn’t be such a hard thing for people.”
