I suppose I’ve always assumed the mirror had only one function. The activation phrase is a bit elaborate, but all it can do is seek out the fairest of the land. The activation phrase could have been “go” and it would still do the same thing.
And this also glosses over the fact that “fairest“ is a very relative term. It’s doubtful any two people will agree on who is the most attractive person in your kingdom.

I think “fair” originally meant “pale”. For some reason, many people used to think it was the most important part of being beautiful.
