‘Astro City’ did a comic on how miserable it would be to be Superman. People die in ways he could’ve prevented every time he takes the slightest break. He’s so busy he barely has time to sleep. There’s never time to go on a fun flight in space. Or date.

There’s a lot of things about Superman as a character that I think, in retrospect, the original creators hadn’t thought out that well. Probably why many of the superheroes following him tend to be more conservative in terms of powers.

These days, having Superman push the “American Way” can have the rest of the world stocking up on kryptonite.
