Years ago, had a friend who grew up in Chicago. We offered him some tomatoes from the garden and he was repulsed. He didn’t eat food from the dirt he explained. He sincerely thought all food came from the market only. Was shocked to find out about agriculture.

I heard a similar story about potaoes. The women in question wanted to know why the person who sent them to her had put dirt on them.
