I know I’m a white guy, but I just need to remind all my black friends (readers here included) and family that not all of us look down on you. I’m alive because of a black man when I was suicidal. I’ve pursued my dreams because of my black friends. I was taught love and wisdom by black role models. I’ll never believe media hype: the black community has a massively positive effect to those around them. And for that, I personally love you all and thank you for being who you are. Mr Bentley, that includes you for bringing joy and wisdom to your comic strips. I’m just one guy, but know this one guy will always believe in, and support, the black community.
Let’s see. Studied hard in school, worked summers in high school, two years at college, got drafted and then joined the Navy as a Nuclear Power candidate for 6 years, did 3 West-Pacs during Vietnam, hired into civilian Nuclear Pwr, worked 32 years of rotating shift work Nights Days and Afternoons, and retired out. Had friends of every ethnic background that followed the same path. So I don’t think it’s all about any privilege, but instead it’s what you do with your life.

This is a great comic. Even though racism is almost never directed at me personally, I find it exhausting every time I encounter it.
