I agree with those people who wrote that Andy Capp is now far too PC; I, too, thought that it’s been ages since Andy’s pigeons got mentioned in the strip, and suddenly I realized that it’s true, Andy hasn’t the cigarette butt hanging out his lip anymore, he never falls into the canal anymore, never flirts with the barmaids anymore, and above all, there are no more real fights between Andy and Flo - remember when they used to beat up each other, or when Andy chased Flo down the street? And what about Percy? Anyone remember him? He represented everything Andy hated - the rent collector, the referee in his soccer games, and above all, Flo’s eternal and hopeless admirer! The only vices they left Andy are horse bets, beer and naps. Surely the times have changed, and the original Andy Capp was set in the ’60s Britain, a time and a place that are no more, but they could have chosen to maintain the original time and place setting, instead of translating Andy to the present; or even better, they could simply stop producing it - that would undoubtedly be sad, but I’d rather read some old reruns instead of this “modern” Andy thas has almost nothing left of the character Reg Smythe created.

What? Andy can’t have pigeons. I’ve never seen Flo taking care of them.

I haven’t seen Andy’s pigeons in years. Of course I haven’t seen Andy smoke or fight either. This is a PC strip, even PETA reads it.

Yes it’s been so long since we’ve seen Andy’s pigeons, I forgot that he even owned any!

She could let them go, but they’d just come back.

If Flo did keep the pigeons then let’s hope they don’t take after Andy after all these years..
