A large chain I know of will let you bring your own, but you have to do the bagging. If you let them bag they will use their bags, and charge 10¢ per bag. And they do not give a discount if you use the self checkout and do all the work. So you have to take that discount yourself.
This is why I don’t listen to the nonsense. They keep changing the rules, so put the groceries in whatever bag is at the checkout. Or use cardboard boxes like Aldi.

In NY, they banned one time use plastic bags, but everyone I know used them at least twice.

The grocery store I go to says no to customer’s own bags. But I was told recently if the baggers don’t mind then I can bring my own.
