You think that starting NBA and NHL playoffs in August might have something to do with it? Empty stands aren’t exactly big for ambience either.
The Stanley Cup playoffs are very well done, the fake crowd noise is quite convincing. The big detraction to me is the constant fighting.

This whole pandemic is gonna probably continue into next year.
Or, maybe it is because we have finally learned that there are a lot more important things in life than professional sports…

a lot of non-watchers are not watching because of the kneeling – simple fact, not a judgement
Better yet have the teams just deal with it and don’t make ANY announcements.
Getting to the point with the knee takers…. Who cares about them anymore
What would happen if sports lost their tax write-off? Has anybody study this? Luxury boxes and all…..
