When you get within about two feet from a cat, it has to approach or walk away. If you want the cat to approach, do nothing. Cats are curious about non-threatening humans. I used to walk in my stockinged feet through the streets of Santa Cruz after dark. Every night, cats would come out from under parked cars to investigate me because I was so quiet. Met a lot of nice cats.
