Had a mean Black female French teacher in HS. Never smiled. One day though this ‘country boy’ in our class butchered up reading the dialogs (think ‘bone-jure’ and ‘oooeee’!!) so bad it cracked her up. She looked like the Grinch when she finally changed from a look of shock to amused and started to smile. Time it was over she had laughed til she cried! She put her head on her desk and just laughed so hard she shook.
Finally she looked up and said “boy! are you through murdering the French language?”. His classic reply was “I just read ’em like I see ’em!”
12 years of school, four years of college (at night) and forty years of working….. that was the funniest thing I saw in all that time.
